Livingstone Revisited 2024 Expedition

Daniel Grace won our 2024 O'Hea Explorer Award for Occupational & Environmental Health for his Livingstone Revisited 2024 Expedition.

Daniel, a GP based in South Wales, is no stranger to adventure and has provided medical cover across the globe, including in the deserts of Jordan, in the frozen Canadian Arctic and on remote Pacific islands.

Daniel's ambitious expedition objective aimed to transform healthcare in some of Zambia’s most isolated communities, using the Virtual Doctor's telemedicine application.

The expedition also included a critical educational component, and the team delivered pre-hospital snakebite and trauma training programs for local healthcare providers.
