TRX-4M Willys Truck RC Crawler – Build & Crawl | Ep.45

Instead of a high performing rock crawler, I wanted to do something a little different this time. This TRX-4M Willys rc crawler is fashioned after overlanding trucks. I don't have to worry about the maximum climbing angle or obsess over low center of gravity or weight distribution – I get to unleash my creativity and do more this time like add more top weight, like cargo, bumpers, and roll cage, visor, and bar lights. I wanted the overall look to be half polished and half junky, like it's been restored partially.

For the performance aspect, I geared this with ‪@INJORA‬ 24:1 ratio for a little more wheel speed that's necessary for trailing/overlanding. Tires need not to be rock crawling purist so I went with ‪@littleguyracingparts‬ Gripper, which looks versatile and non-directional. Wheels are from LGRP too. Axles are Meus Isokinetic, which is no surprise if you're a bit familiar with my builds. ‪@rcawd‬ CVD driveshafts for smoother power delivery of wheel speed when needed. This is powered by ‪@FuritekUSA‬ Venom instead of the usual Micro Komodo because I find the former a lot smoother than the latter (less cogging at low rpm).

Overall, I'm very satisfied with the outcome. I'm still getting familiar with the gearing and I need to work on my trail-driving skills. Possible future iteration could be an alternate tire set for more challenging terrains. Maybe water-proofing too should I decide to do river crossing (but highly unlikely, haha).
