Congress leader and former environment minister Jairam Ramesh today accused the Central government of effectively “selling” the ecologically fragile Aravalli Hills, arguing that recent attempts to redefine the mountain range will open it up to increased mining, real estate and environmental exploitation instead of protecting it. Ramesh said the move threatens the ecosystem spanning Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and Gujarat, could worsen pollution and undermine natural heritage.
