Bembow lava lake, Marum lava lake and John From Village
3 full days On Ambrym Island to see the Lava Lakes
Ambrym is a volcanic Island and the caldera of Ambrym often has 1-5 active lava Lakes
Marum is the biggest and is most easy to see.
Bembow is where we used ropes to go down closer but it's still much further away and not so easy to see all of it.
We pass another lava lake on day 3 but it's small and we cannot see the lava because the walls are steep and the surface is very very deep down in the crater
Day 1
0.00-5.24 arrival by plane and hiking up to camp. In the evening hike to Marum Lava Lake.
Day 2
5.25-9.24 Bembow Lava Lake
9.25-9.36 Campsite
Day 3
9.37-11.20 Passing by another lava lake but it's so deep we cannot see the lava
11.21-17.36 Marum Lava Lake
Day 4
17.37 Dinner and airport and flying above Ambrym Island
UPDATE: In 2018 an Eruption emptied the lava lakes.
