The main reason for going to Amritsar, in India's State of Punjab, is to visit the Sikh's spiritual centre, the Harmandir Sahib; referred to by westerners as the 'Golden Temple'. More popular with non-Indian visitors than the Taj Mahal, the Golden Temple welcomes over 100,000 visitors daily.
There is only one land border crossing between India and Pakistan. There are some time difficulties to overcome for travelers wanting to visit both countries, so, we opted to 'get close' by attending thenightly closing ceremonies (aka performances) at the Wagah Border Crossing.
This video can only introduce you to some of the sights and sounds around the Golden Temple and will hopefully encourage you to experience it for yourself.
