In response to the success of Martin's dreadnought, Gibson began crafting their Jumbos in the early 1930s, going through several iterations over the years. Popular though it was, the Advanced Jumbo was only in production from 1936-1937 before it was replaced by the Super Jumbos. Only 300 were made. With an Adirondack spruce top, Brazilian rosewood back and sides, and a 14-fret configuration, it's no surprise that this round-shouldered, sunburst-sporting beast won the hearts of many a player looking for a powerful workhorse guitar.
