SPOTTR - Students of Purdue Observation Tornadic Thunderstorms for Research
Course description:
SPOTTR is a 4-week summer course that focuses on the prediction, observation, and analysis of severe storms. The third week of the course involves a field trip across the country to witness storms and provide data to the National Weather Service. Students learn severe storms forecasting, real-time radar interpretation, safe observation of severe storms, and careers in research meteorology.
Students assist the instructors in field data collection such as launching weather balloons.
