After wrenching on this 2000 Honda S2000 over the last seven months, it is finally ready to hit the open road. I'll go over how much I've spent on the vehicle up to this point (engine, fluids, brakes, convertible top, wheels and tires, etc.) along with simply not saying much and listening to the chorus of this magnificent, glorious 2.0 liter 240hp inline-4 powerplant. It's a beast of an engine that revs quite happily to 9000 RPMs! Thanks for watching.

The incredible Honda S2000 was manufactured along side the Acura NSX for the first few years in Japan. The vehicle was unveiled as a concept car at the 1995 Tokyo Motor Show. It is a rear wheel drive beast mated to a six-speed manual transmission.

The early vehicles, known as AP1 vehicles, were produced between 2000-2003. Honda retained the front engine, rear wheel drive layout and mated the vehicle to a 2.0 liter, 4-cylinder VTEC DOHC powerplant. This magnificent engine produces roughly 240hp / 160 ft. lbs of torque. Similar to a racing motorcycle, the engine is quite happy revving up to 9000 RPMs! It has electric steering - not hydraulic. Subtle double wishbone suspension. Perfect 50:50 weight distribution. The early cars had a plastic rear window. Fortunately, this was upgraded to glass in (I believe) 2003. Under the plastic roll hoops are actual metal hoops fastened to the frame of the vehicle. This early model was produced along side the Acura NSX in Japan.

The second and last generation, known as AP2, were produced from 2004 - 2009. The AP2 model was built in a different factory vs the AP1, but continued to be manufactured in Japan. The suspension was retuned for better driving dynamics. The synchros in the gear box were changed to carbon fiber. LED tail lights, a revised - and more aggressive - front and rear bumpers. The powerplant remained, albeit with a slightly lowered rev limit of 8500 rpms.

This cars are quickly going up in value. If you find one that is stock and well cared for I suggest you seriously consider the S2000. The Miata is no where on the same level as the S2000! Cheers.
