A truly magical moment from the first night of the 2026 Joey’s Song Freezing Man Festival. Original Big Star drummer Jody Stephens steps out from behind the kit to take lead vocals on the timeless power-pop ballad, "Thirteen."
Joining him for this intimate acoustic rendition are Jon Auer (The Posies / Big Star) and the phenomenal Terra Lightfoot. This "Unplugged" Friday night set focused on the stories behind the songs, bringing together a legendary group of musicians to raise money for epilepsy research and support.
"Thirteen," written by Alex Chilton and Chris Bell, remains one of the most beautiful coming-of-age songs ever written. Hearing it performed by the last surviving original member of Big Star, backed by such incredible talent, made for an unforgettable highlight of the weekend.
