As garden sculptures grow in popularity, this artist explains why they're invaluable | ABC Australia

In 2017 David Ball won Australia’s largest free exhibition of outdoor sculptures, Sculpture By the Sea, with his work ‘Orb’.

Now the architectural and landscape sculptor is curating a sculpture show ‘where the sculpture is meaningful to the people coming and the people who are making it’.

In 2023 Arts in the Valley invited him to curate their sculpture festival in Kangaroo Valley.

Ball creates large-scale metal sculptures by hand, and says it’s a competitive space.

"We had a really good show in spring last year, that worked really well, and we are trying to grow that show," he said.

From Kangaroo Valley to the Southern Highlands, large sculptures dominate the NSW countryside signifying the human element in the landscape.
