Redemption is a public hospital providing free medical care to the people of New Kru Town in Monrovia, the capital city of Liberia. The Ebola epidemic killed 112 people at this health facility, forcing it to shut down in September 2014.
As part of its contribution to fighting the epidemic and helping restore health facilities in Liberia, the ICRC decided to go in with its expertise and clean up the contaminated areas. The out-patient department reopened around new year, providing health care to nearly 100 people a day, with the hospital gearing up to reopen its in-patient services.
