A half-day tour with my guide friend, Bo, staying close to home in Bangkok as we head to the flower market, take a river boat ride, and finish up at the spectacular Grand Palace. The flower market (Pak Khlong Talat) is a feast for the visual and aromatic senses. All kinds of fresh local flowers shipped in bulk daily from outside Bangkok where various delicate floral arrangements are hand-made for temple offerings, festive occasions, and gifts. REMARKABLE CRAFTSMANSHIP. Next, we head to the RAJINI PIER for a cultural ride along the Chao Phraya River and see the wonderful riverside Buddhist temple landmarks such as WAT ARUN and WAT KANLAYANAMIT in a traditional Thai longboat. Lastly, we finish up at THE GRAND PALACE which served as the Thai King's residence from 1782 - 1925 during the reigns of King Rama I through King Rama V. Amazing artisan work within the grounds: from 300 year old paintings in THE CLOISTERS to the much heralded EMERALD BUDDHA in the CONVOCATION HALL.
