Went down to visit my old buddy Hickery and attend the Grayson Highlands Hang and Fall Festival. We got caught up in the edge of Hurricane Helene but what we experienced paled as too what happened to the rest of the Southeast. Only 9 of us at the Hang and over 40 were expected. Most had to turn around and head home. Park closed. Trees down and water and a mudslide blocking the roads in.
What we saw when we were able to leave shocked us. But mountain folk are tough folks and got to helping each other.
