SOLIDWORKS CAM offers powerful tools to help program your part for CNC machines, and CAMWorks offers even more advanced capabilities. SOLIDWORKS CAM primarily programs parts in a Z plane method, allowing for toolpaths such as Z-Level and Flat Area, both of which step down even amounts in the Z direction and apply toolpath in planes normal to the Z direction.
CAMWorks allows the user to add operations such as Pattern Project, a versatile toolpath that can be programmed to follow part geometry, and Constant Stepover, a toolpath providing a constant surface finish regardless of the part geometry. Other great tools like Pencil Mill and 3D Engraving round out the added functions found in CAMWorks.
