i found it most useful to divide parts of the lesson into separate little lesson cards so the explanation right at the top for the direct instruction a hook to get their attention and some explicit teaching the activities for what the kids are doing with a whole bunch of tags to help you find what you might look for later and the assessment feedback which is usually a separate lesson and any admin you have to do like standardized testing or introducing behavioral routines and when you have made the parts of the lesson cards that you need it's very easy to link them all together at the bottom so you would just copy paste all of these links between the relevant pages and then wherever you are in this little interlinking section if you're in this lesson this activity it's very easy to jump around to wherever you need to go

and here is how you add those lesson cards so when you're just starting out you'll be adding new cards in here because you won't have an ideas bank to fall back on so a quick way is just to have these templates in here so some of these are customized for my school but they are also customizable by you so you can just go in here and edit a template and the template obviously lets you fill in these fields quicker with whatever you need and have the lesson format that you like once you've built up your ideas bank all you'd need to do is go there look for the comprehension lesson that you are looking for something like that say i'm looking for something with teams then everything that has a teams tag will come up obviously there's a lot you can load them all there or the ones that you have will have created but i'm looking for say something with comprehension when i learn how to spell

and if i'm doing that say i'm doing an addition lesson and i'm doing that this week and say we're doing a 1086 or whatever it is then it will also appear in my planning view here when i have got those materials ready i tick ready and it goes to the next view which is the overview of next week so i can get a bigger picture of how things are looking

and so these are what the rest of the views are for when i've planned next week i've ticked ready on all those lesson cards so it's appearing in my next week overview i go to the previous week for this next bit so week three say and on this record view it's going to if i choose the week's dates in the filter it will save these as a record of what i've done so i can click back on previous weeks and see what i did each week if i need to and then it also appears in this term one overall table with all the lessons that have happened so far this term so that's the record view

and of course one of the main benefits of using a notion database is that there is great potential for collaboration so this is the shared database page with our powers combined captain planet with instructions for either adding ideas to the shared database or copying ideas from the shared database so it's very easy to share ideas between teachers within the same year level or same teaching team

and you would copy your lesson idea over here you can customize these fields to whatever you like and it does take a little bit of time first off to create those lesson cards but it's only slightly more time than it would take to type it into a planning like a word document because the templates are already there pretty much all filled out you just put the same content into those lesson cards and then they are there forever for you to use whenever you need them to jot ideas into to access whenever you need and most importantly to embed all of your files in there as well
