New Orleans in Bloom — a quiet walk through the city’s changing gardens.

This video came together slowly — filmed between April and August, over many small walks through neighborhoods that shifted with the seasons.

Some days were overcast, others bright. Flowers would bloom, fade, and return. This isn’t a single moment — it’s a collage of time and change, collected frame by frame.

I didn’t set out to film something symbolic.
I just wanted to capture the feeling of peace, of beauty blooming in quiet corners.

There’s one house that stood out.
You’ll see it in the thumbnail — a classic New Orleans home, its shutters covered in oversized hand made flowers.

The idea came from something beautiful.
During the pandemic, New Orleans created the house float movement — when Mardi Gras parades were canceled, residents turned their homes into floats. This house kept the tradition going — not during Carnival, but in spring. It felt like a soft celebration of the season, and a sign that creativity here never sleeps.

I live in New Orleans.

The night before Hurricane Katrina, I was at the Wheel of Fortune taping at the convention center.
As I left, I remember standing on the sidewalk — looking around and wondering,
What will this all look like in a few days?

Days later, I watched from Houston — the same sidewalk filled with people seeking shelter, broadcast over and over on the news.

It’s something I’ll never forget.

So this video — quiet, blooming, gentle — means something different to me.

It’s not just flowers. It’s not just spring.
It’s the way New Orleans keeps growing — right through the cracks.

I wanted to release this on August 29, the 20th anniversary of Katrina, as a small tribute — not to what happened, but to what continues.
To resilience, memory, and the beauty that still grows in this city.
