My 2-year-old son Damian is not expected to live to age 5 due to a rare terminal genetic disease called ASMD. This disease progressively weakens the body and deteriorates the brain due to a build-up of a fatty substance called Sphingomyelin.
Because there is no treatment (YET!!!), our days are filled with therapies, doctor appointments, and trying to schedule doctors appointments in an effort to monitor and delay the progression of the disease as much as we can while we fight to fund and expedite the treatment.
People ask me all the time what life looks like for us right now. So I filmed one of our "average-busy" days. PLEASE ask me any questions you have in the comments!
