Hawke's Bay to Wellington - a boring motorbike ride?

What could have been a standard commute from Hawke's Bay to Wellington turned into a day of interesting detours. Sometimes, it's the little stops that make a ride memorable.

I kicked things off with a foggy visit to the Pekapeka Wetlands, a great place to stop and stretch the legs. Then it was a quick detour up Burma Road, which always offers some fantastic valley views.

Further south, I stopped at a lookout along the new highway to see the wind farm up close. It was an interesting change of scenery, even if the views weren't the best. My final stop was at the De Molen windmill in Foxton. I've seen it countless times from the road but had never been inside before. It would have been amazing to see the 17th-century mill in action, but there was no wind that day.
