Two waves of screaming and randomly waving weapons of warriors collide, penetrating one into the other, intermingling. The battle has begun! Everyone chooses his opponent and fights with him, and, having won, looks for the next one... Bloody chaos reigns on the battlefield.
This is roughly how medieval battles are portrayed in movies and books. Sometimes you want to ask the author - where did he see such a thing? But there's no need. For it is well known where - in black-and-white chronicles of wars of the 20th century. Hand-to-hand fights of the First and Second World Wars looked like this. The problem is that the battles of more distant eras looked very different.
