High Contrast Money Piece Hair Color [BOLD MONEY PIECE HAIR TUTORIAL]

Watch how I do this high contrast money piece hair color for a bold look.

My model decided to make the switch from red box dye to a high contrast money piece and edgy look.

The process:
Her natural base is really dark, so I first went in with Kenra Professional Blue powder lightener at a 1:2 mixing ratio with 30 volume developer.

I had to be super careful because she had previously lightened ends. When formulating, you have to take into consideration the condition of the client's hair. In this case, 30 volume would be too strong for the previously lightened ends. I felt it was best to mix up two separate formulas.

I used Blue Powder Lightener on her regrowth and Beyond Bond Lightener on her ends.

Because Beyond Bond Lightener has a dual bond complex, it was perfect to put on her ends with 20 volume and a 1:2 mixing ratio. If you have not checked out this lightener, I would highly recommend it for clients with previously lightened hair because it is so gentle.

When wanting a maximum lift, always take fine sections and thoroughly saturate.

To complete her high contrast look, I went in with 4A on the top half of her head with a 1:2 mixing ratio with 9 volume developer.

When choosing a formula, you have to consider what is already in the hair. If I went in with a regular 4N, her dark base would have been super warm. We were going for a cooler look, so to directly combat the warmth by using color theory, I used Ash (green/blue base).

For her final glaze, I used 7SM and 8VM 1:2 with 9 volume developer.
