On Sunday of Diesel Days 2025 at the Illinois Railway Museum, nearly every operational diesel hit the mainline! This video captures the full lineup of trains throughout the day, showcasing rare locomotives, heritage paint schemes, and unique lashups that made Sunday unforgettable.

Diesel Days is IRM’s biggest annual celebration of historic diesel locomotives. Each year, the museum brings out a wide variety of preserved engines for operation on the mainline and yard tracks, offering rides, photo opportunities, and rare looks at preserved freight and passenger power in action. For railfans, it’s one of the premier events in the Midwest to see these locomotives not only on display but running as they were meant to be.

The Illinois Railway Museum (IRM), located in Union, Illinois, is the largest railway museum in the United States. The museum preserves and operates an incredible collection of steam, diesel, electric, and streetcar equipment.
