Matt Hancock has resigned after being caught on camera kissing Gina Coladangelo during the coronavirus pandemic. The affair happened on 6th May, when COVID restrictions were in stage 2 of the government's roadmap out of the pandemic.
During stage 2, gatherings indoors of 2 or more people were illegal, and therefore Matt Hancock and Gina Coladangelo were breaking the rules.
Matt Hancock has resigned as health secretary and Boris Johnson has appointed Sajid David as his replacement.
Matt Hancock and Gina Coladangelo were both married. Gina was married to Oliver Tress, the founder of online retailer Oliver Bonas.
Many people are angry that Matt Hancock broke his own coronavirus rules. There were even calls for him to be investigated by the Met Police. However, the police have responded that they will not be conducting the investigation as it is retrospective. This is obviously confusing as all crimes are retrospective, however I explain what they may mean by this in the video.
Let me know what you think of Matt Hancock's actions in the comments!
