Scottish singer / guitarist Tony Cuffe turned up at Aberdeen Folk Club in 1973 to do a “floor-spot”, including this traditional song from “Ord’s Bothy Ballads”. As far as I know, the tune was Tony’s own. He never did record this song, which is a great pity, but it should not be lost.
Preserved here, in memory of a great Scottish musician, and a good friend. RIP, Tony.
The photo was taken at a session at the Keith Traditional Music Festival, possibly the first, in the mid-1970s. Fiddle player is Adam Jack, from Edinburgh, Tony on guitar, behind him playing whistle is John Gahagan of "The [early ] Battlefield Band".
