Classic GM POWER WINDOW Switch Repair

I had no idea this was possible, but thanks to bad reproduction GM power window switches that literally fell apart, I was able to diagnose the problem and fix them.

BTW, the repairs outlined in the video apply to most PW (Power Window) switches used by General Motors divisions from the late 60s through the 1980s, including Chevrolet, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, GMC trucks, Chevy pickups including Suburban and Blazer, and Cadillac automobiles.

Having the ability to take switches apart without breaking them is not always an option, but in the case of these aftermarket repops it was an easy repair since the manufacturer either failed to stake the cases properly or just missed that step. In most of these cases, "quality control" is nonexistent.

Since I am no expert when it comes to how these things were engineered and made, I am always learning on the go which—as in this video—required a few corrections which will hopefully help you understand how they are wired, assembled, how they operate, and how to install them.

At the end of the day, the idea is to fix these power window switches properly and get them operational at a fraction of the cost of replacing them. And if they work properly for a long time, it is time well spent.
