Solo Hiking in the Mountains || Visocica

Fighting Wind, Cold and My Limits may sound dramatic for one mountain, but that’s exactly how I experienced this summit (Crveni kuk) on Visočica. This solo hiking day was a mix of strong winds, cold air, and the kind of silence you can only feel high in the mountains.

Visočica Mountain, located in the heart of Bosnia and Herzegovina and just a short drive from Sarajevo, is one of the most beautiful yet underrated places for solo hiking, hiking, and backpacking. The trail leads across wide plateaus, steep sections, and rocky ridges that offer some of the most breathtaking views in the entire Dinaric Alps.

This ascent wasn’t just physically demanding — it was emotional. At times, the wind stopped me in my tracks, the cold cut through my gloves, but the feeling of freedom and connection with nature kept pushing me forward. Standing alone on the summit, surrounded by endless mountains, was a moment I won’t forget.
