These are my favourite conditions here in Corralejo during Dec-Jan when the Atlantic swell and a northerly wind align which allows you to sail on the mirror flat water between the waves as they wash through. It never fails to get my adrenalin going, timing is everything.
Unfortunately while on the best waves I ran out of wind just when I needed it so could not bear away down the swell and out run it to avoid the washing machine. Fortunately after being wiped out by the first wave the next couple in the set had no power in them so didn't jack up on me. Sometimes it’s hit and miss choosing sail size, generally when I rig for the middle of the channel I get it right, today 6.2 would have allowed me to power through the swell. My wingman could not make it in time to sail together today, he missed out!

I am a regular windsurfer based in Weymouth Dorset on the south coast of England. I have been windsurfing for 30+ years and try to get out whenever there is wind but the temperature has to be double figures these days.
