The National Economic Development and Labour Council (NEDLAC) recently held its 23rd annual summit in Pretoria.
This at a time when the country is in a technical recession with inequality, crime and poverty being on the rise...
An interesting issue that came out of the summit is the labour minister's announcement that an investigation into the constitutionality of affirmative action and employment equity policies - has concluded that both the policy and the Employment Equity Act "were unconstitutional, and not in sync with international conventions.
NEDLAC is a platform that facilitates consensus and co-operation between government, labour and business in dealing with South Africa's socio-economic challenges.
