The Second Battle of Panipat was fought on 5 November 1556 between Vikramaditya Hemu, Prime Minister & de-facto ruler of Suri Sultanate and Mughal forces led by Regent Bairam Khan, who de-facto rule Mughal Sultanate.
Earlier, Hemu & Suri forces manage to defeat Mughal forces defending Delhi & seize their artillery. While the Mughals under Ali Quli Khan Shaibani manage to seize Hemu & Suri artillery on transport. As both Hemu & Bairam pursue quick mobility, they employ mobile troops mainly composed of cavalry & mounted archers while both unable to use their artillery.
Suri & Mughal forces met at the Panipat. Hemu & Suri forces outnumbered Mughal forces 3 to 1. Additionally, Hemu forces boosted with 500 battle elephants who has winning battle from Punjab to Bengal.
Mughal themselves barely recovering from annihilation during Sultan Humayun reign, and pinned down by both Suri fores under Sikandar Shah Suri and Vikramaditya Hemu in north India.
