In this video, I recreate one of the most surreal moments I witnessed during my time in the Navy — the day after the USS Port Royal ran aground off the coast of Hawaii. Using Sea Power: Naval Combat in the Missile Age and the latest NTU Mod that adds Arleigh Burke–class destroyers, I walk through what it looked like as we left Pearl Harbor for weekly ops and passed the grounded cruiser on the reef.
I share what I saw, what the atmosphere was like that day, and how unusual it felt to see a modern AEGIS cruiser sitting on the reef just outside the harbor channel. With the NTU mod making these ships playable and visually accurate, I can finally recreate that moment and provide a detailed perspective using actual naval context and gameplay.
