Critical Self-Reflection Empowers Us to Recreate Knowledge

Recreating knowledge requires critical self-reflection and a commitment to unlearning. All of us in some way, shape or form were trained to normalize anti-Blackness in subtle and overt ways: what we label as “appropriate,” and how we interpret behavior (both which are inherently rooted in one's cultural upbringing).
Good intentions do not exempt us from impact. If we do not interrogate what we’ve been taught to accept as "normal," we risk reproducing the very harm we say we want to disrupt.
As Dr. King reminded us, “Human progress is neither automatic nor inevitable.” It requires conscious effort, moral clarity, and a willingness to change our own mindsets as we work to create authentic educational spaces that honor the lived experiences, culture and languages of Black and Brown communities.
