Join me as I explore the enchanting Yoi-yama night and the spectacular Yamahoko Junko (Grand Procession of Floats) at Kyoto’s Gion Matsuri—an awe-inspiring tradition with over 1,100 years of history.
The festival is often called a “moving art museum” for good reason. Each float is beautifully adorned with intricate decorations and historical tapestries. One of the most thrilling highlights is the tsuji-mawashi, a dramatic turn of a 10-ton float at a street intersection—pure power and precision in motion!
I was truly amazed to witness this living tradition.
Why not join me and experience the spirit of Gion Matsuri for yourself?
