Bob is the owner of Bob DeJong, LLC Ultrasound Educational Services in Rosedale, Maryland. He is currently on the SDMS & SDMS Foundation Board of Directors. In the past he has served on a variety of committees for both the SDMS and the AIUM. Bob was awarded the SDMS Joan P. Baker Pioneer Award in 1996 and was made an SDMS Fellow in 2009 and an AIUM fellow in 2010. Bob has published two textbooks, Craig’s Essentials of Sonography and Patient Care and Sonography Scanning Principles and Protocols and has authored chapters in other ultrasound textbooks. He has also been a co-author on a variety of ultrasound journal articles. Bob began his ultrasound journey in 1976 after graduating from The Johns Hopkins School of Radiologic Technology. Bob was offered a position at The Johns Hopkins Hospital in 1977 and in 1978 he began teaching physics to ultrasound students fulfilling his lifelong desire to teach. Recently Bob retired from The Johns Hopkins Hospital after 28 years where he was in charge of the radiology ultrasound division. Working at Hopkins gave Bob the opportunity to be involved in a variety of ultrasound related research, including ultrasound contrast, as well as to be an early adapter of new ultrasound technologies such as elastography. Bob’s favorite ultrasound studies include evaluating the renal arteries, the liver and liver Doppler exams.
