Calum Barron came from a disadvantaged background but volunteering for a European Voluntary Service project made him feel there were more options open to him than before. Following his EVS projects, Calum went on to lead several projects in his local area of Glamorgan and in wider Wales. He now has an apprenticeship and is also volunteering in a homeless shelter as well as doing volunteer work with children with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder – continuing his work as a ‘big brother’ to young people from a similar background.
