ICC 'cannot confirm' arrest warrant vs Bato Dela Rosa | ANC

Headstart: The International Criminal Court (ICC) said it cannot confirm reports that an arrest warrant was issued against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa. The ICC stressed that all matters related to the court can only be verified through its official communication channels and press releases.

The clarification comes after Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla over the weekend claimed that the ICC had issued a warrant against Dela Rosa. ICC Assistant to Counsel Atty. Kristina Conti explained on Tuesday, November 11, that arrest warrants are usually transmitted to the Department of Foreign Affairs if the country is an ICC member. Since the Philippines is no longer a member state, any warrant would go directly to the Office of the President or INTERPOL.

Conti added that under these circumstances, the ICC would not publicly release the warrant, meaning it is still possible that the government could have received it, similar to what happened to former President Rodrigo Duterte over crimes against humanity.
