Why Does the Wii Forecast Channel Have a Different Set of Icons For Japan?

This question really bugged me for the past few years, so I figured I would answer it.

There's a lot that I didn't cover, like Aicher's Anti-Nazi proclivities in design, the controversial launch of the 2005 BBC graphical revision, and symbols used by meteorologists rather than the ones for laymen. Let me know if you would like to see more on that front.

I thought this video would be up in December. I guess this is what I've been doing for the past six months.
