EN: Commentary during the video is in German but if you have any questions I can clarify them in English! The Mercedes-Benz O530 Citaro BZH is one of the rarest variants of the Citaro family. The hydrogen/fuel cell battery-driven bus is probably a future alternative to diesel buses. The tested alternative is driving all-around Stuttgart. A simple reaction of hydrogen (liquid form) with atmospheric oxygen (gas) leads to oxidation (addition of oxygen/loss of electron) of the hydrogen to water. The power generated from this reaction, the energy produced, propels the vehicle. The fuel cell stacks provide the energy needed for the electric motors to power the vehicle but without charging directly the battery (this is not an option comparing to the GDH Citaro where the diesel engine is exclusively charging the batteries). Nevertheless, a battery for recapturing braking energy is providing extra power during short acceleration events and is smoothing out the power delivered from the fuel cell with the option to idle or turn off the fuel cell during low power needs. 4 of these buses (5501-5504) are mostly scheduled on lines 45 and 41. It is a Citaro but a modified one with the roof being higher than the one of a normal Citaro, with the hydrogen powertrain-related equipment stored mostly there. Linie 45 fährt je 20 Minuten von Bad Cannstatt Bahnhof (Eisenbahnstraße) in Richtung Buchwald über NeckarPark und Ostendplatz. Nach einer kleinen Pause da, fährt der Bus zurück nach Bad Cannstatt. Sehr oft werden die Citaro BZH auf dieser Strecke verwendet. Sie bieten eine sehr gute Fahrmöglichkeit. Teil 2 kommt bald von Wagenburgstraße bis Ende zum Buchwald.
