DIY: Specimen Cards

Back from the summer holidays with a new video!

This time, I fell in love with these cute specimen cards & decided to put my own spin on them.

I used acetate to create the transparent slide ins, but please, if you have any plastic pastry containers left over, use them!

This is a great craft to use up those items you have laying around, as you can also use any box that you have left over to create the crate. Just make sure you put on one or two coats of gesso before painting it.

Use StazOn ink to stamp on the acetate, once dry, it won't budge! You can also write or stamp something on each of the little card labels, so these are really versatile. I used a little Distress ink on the small butterflies edges, so they blend in a little better.

The cinnamon acrylic paint I put on the crate was a little too light for my taste, as I was going for an old wooden crate look, so I mixed in a little bit of black acrylic paint and used crackle paste to age the crate.

Rub in the Distress markers to enphasize the cracks and let it dry completely.

You can download them directly at home & print them on cardstock or heavy printer paper.
Glue them into your journal or maybe make them as a gift for a dear friend.
