BADCO 150’ Mothership Provisions for Crossing the Atlantic: Next Stop Ascension Island!

Join us in Fort Lauderdale, FL as the BCS150 team preps for Leg 8 in the Ascension Islands amidst rising mechanical setbacks and pulsing weather conditions. Anthony breaks down the logistical challenges of planning for the world tour, different degrees of engine failures across the fleet and crew management.

Leg 8 is the most challenging and remote thus far, the BCS150 mothership has been brought out of retirement to fill in for the 175 which is still undergoing repair in Turkey and cradle the 33 L&H to Cape Verde and then on to Ascension Island. Without a proper port at the island the team may need to drop the 33 L&H in Abidjan and then tow her 1100nm back to Ascension.

And after a preventative maintenance check the day before departure, Chief Engineer Van detects diesel in the oil, while also waiting on parts to repair the PLC Controls. BCS150 can not depart without either of these being repaired.
