A police encounter took place in the Goraya police station area of Jalandhar Rural, where the rural police came face-to-face with a gangster. During the encounter, gangster Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi was shot in the leg, leaving him injured. He has been admitted to a hospital for treatment. Gurpreet Singh alias Gopi has five cases registered against him, including drug trafficking and assault. He had been absconding for a long time.

VO: Jalandhar SSP Harvinder Singh Virk stated that the Goraya police had received information that the accused was roaming in the area. The police set up checkpoints and tried to stop Gurpreet. However, the accused sped away in his vehicle and fired two shots at the police. In retaliation, the police also opened fire, one of which hit Gurpreet in the leg.

The police immediately took him into custody and rushed him to the hospital for treatment. The police recovered a .32-bore pistol and a vehicle from his possession. According to officials, he was wanted in multiple cases and had been on the run for a long time.
