"Tin Soldier" viene pubblicata dagli Small Faces in Gran Bretagna come singolo (b-side I Feel Much Better) il 2 dicembre 1967 (Immediate Records). Composta originariamente per la cantante afroamericana P.P. Arnold, presente tra l'altro come corista nel brano, piacque così tanto però all''autore-cantante-chitarrista Steve Marriott, che decise di tenersela stretta per i suoi Small Faces. Si tratta in effetti di una composizione d'amore che Marriott stesso dedicò alla sua futura prima moglie Jenny Rylance e la scrittura di questo brano, sembra essere stata influenzata dalla fiaba di Hans Christian Andersen "The Steadfast Tin Soldier", ovvero la storia del desiderio di un imperfetto soldatino di latta per una ballerina di carta. Emblematico è il testo di apertura..."Sono un piccolo soldatino di latta che vuole saltare nel tuo fuoco". Scritta da Steve Marriott (ma accreditata al duo inossidabile Steve Marriott / Ronnie Lane) segna il ritorno alle radici R&B della band inglese, pur continuando le incursioni nel rock psichedelico, rappresentando sicuramente una delle tracce più significative del grandioso repertorio degli Small Faces. Registrata rigorosamente in Mono durante il recente Lockdown 2021, tramite un semplice scambio di file audio e file video via whatsApp, la clip è stata successivamente montata con un normalissimo smartphone android, il tutto sotto la magica regia del Buon Storteaux Stortoni - Disrtorti Film Productions.
