Xinchang Ancient Town, located in Shanghai, was once a prosperous salt market with a history of over 1,300 years. Established during the Southern Song Dynasty, it has preserved numerous architectural relics from the Ming and Qing dynasties despite the changes of time. Today, it remains the largest and most historically rich cultural heritage area in Shanghai. The town retains many small bridges, long streets, old shops, and temples, together forming a picturesque Jiangnan water town scene.
