American teenager Ryan White fought against prejudge he suffered after he got infected with HIV due a contaminated blood treatment. In December 1984, at an age of 13, Ryan got diagnosed with AIDS. The news spread about his illness and parents and teachers petitioned to withhold White from returning to Western Middle School. Ryan got banned. Fear and ignorance of the disease was widespread. His expulsion became head line news. This young man went on educating the American public and the world about the taboo called AIDS. He made frequent appearances on national television and held fundraisers to empower other children with AIDS. Ryan died on April 8, 1990.
