BECOMING AN ACTOR AS A PROFESSIONAL MODEL | Commercial Modeling Advice

I was scared…the fear of failure..the fear of looking stupid…

Ultimately not being good enough and being judged.

You know me as a professional agency signed model…

but actor..eek

When I started taking acting classes last year on a continuous basic, it was due to a conscious decision to work on personal development outside of my sessions with my therapist.

I had already booked dozens of modeling jobs and TV commercials at that point.

But it was very rare that I would audition for speaking roles if it meant scripted dialogue.

I knew some of my hangups were limiting me in my personal life off camera… #therapy

And so I signed up to further work on letting go of those hinderances also in my public facing life. #actingclass

I never had any desire to audition for Tv shows or movie rolls.

I was too scared of never being good enough…of embarrassing myself.

But what happened in class was not only me learning how to let go of personal fears but realizing that I actually COULD learn to memorize lines and that I COULD be believable in an actual ROLE outside of my usual fun TV commercials.

This scene (the full scene is 4 minutes long) was recently recorded by my amazing acting teacher Chris Perez as part of our monthly classes that I still take.

Thank you Chris for being such an amazing encourager to everyone in our class and pushing us to realize we CAN do more than we think we are capable of. You go above and beyond for us and treat us like family.

So here I am…

Saying that hey, one day maybe I’ll actually audition for some roles like this.

And even if I never step out to audition more for those roles, just KNOWING that I actually grew in this area beyond my wildest dreams to be able to do a scene like this, is enough immense joy and gratitude.

So to you reading this I say, “do the goals for YOU — the rest will follow as God has already aligned in the future.”
