DMPS, DMPL Partner to Expand Library Access

Beginning this school year, all Des Moines Public Schools students in grades 7–12 will have expanded access to books, digital resources, and other learning materials thanks to a new partnership with the Des Moines Public Library. Under the agreement, every middle and high school student’s school ID card will also function as a public library card, eliminating barriers to library access for approximately 12,000 students across the city. Superintendent Ian Roberts and Jon Hobbs, interim director of DMPL, made the announcement during a press conference at the downtown Central Library. While there, Dr. Roberts also signed up for his own DMPL library card.
