Plot: Regulus Black joined Death Eaters not because he believed in blood supremacy, but because he was a good son and did what was expected of him. And also because all of his Slytherin peers were already in this cool club.
Once he joined the ranks proper, he realised this was not what he wanted. Too afraid to voice his doubts to anyone, he found kindred soul in his classmate Lyssa Greengrass. She, too, wanted a way out. They fell in love fast, and their union would've been very endorced by pureblood society, but neither of them wanted to be part of it.
Lyssa ran to France, and Regulus stayed, hoping to finish one task before he can run away too.
Unfortunately, he never gets out of the cave where Voldemort hid the locket, and Lyssa, with newborn Leonidas, spends years hiding from the possible retribution.
Leon spends childhood never knowing who his father is, and only after the second war ends, he learns who he was.
And that he has a shit tone of cousins.
