I Quit Couch to 5K… Now I’m Chasing a 5K Personal Best at 56.
At 56 years old, I’ve made a bold decision — I’ve quit the Couch to 5K app and decided to go it alone.
No app telling me when to run or walk. No countdowns. Just me, my trainers, a bit of stubborn determination, and one clear goal: to beat my 5K personal best.

I’m not an athlete. I didn’t grow up running. I’m just a regular bloke in his mid-50s who decided it was time to move more, eat less, and take control of his health. Couch to 5K gave me the structure to start — but now it’s time to trust my body, listen to my breathing, and see what I’m really capable of.
This isn’t about smashing records or pretending it’s easy. It’s about progress, setbacks, sore legs, small wins, and proving that improvement doesn’t stop just because you’ve passed 50.
