Samson Dauda, the current Mr. Olympia, is now preparing for the 2025 competition, set for October 9–12 in Las Vegas, according to a recent Instagram update from Mr. Olympia LLC. Dauda has been sharing progress updates, currently weighing in at 328 lbs and displaying remarkable size and structure. While his size remains a key advantage, some believe he’ll need to further refine his conditioning to challenge top rivals like Derek Lunsford, Nick Walker, and Hadi Choopan.
As of early June, Dauda shared an off-season update at 328 lbs (about 148.8 kg), roughly 10–15 lbs above his previous contest weight.
His current bulking phase, guided by wife and coach Marlena Gustowska, is focused on building additional strength and muscle ahead of his next prep cycle.
Last week, he posted a physique update, 19 weeks out from Mr. Olympia 2025, already showing impressive size with emerging definition.
After finishing second to Derek Lunsford at the 2025 Arnold Classic (Feb 27–Mar 2), Samson Dauda acknowledged the challenge of doing back-to-back preps for both the Olympia and the Arnold. “At this point, I am happy to finally have a break,” he said, thanking fans and sharing that he would use the time to recover and recharge.
Despite the setback, Dauda remains fully focused on the 2025 Mr. Olympia this October in Las Vegas. He highlighted his determination, recalling how a second-place Arnold finish last year was followed by his 2024 Olympia win: “I go away, I work, I come back better.” His goal is to defend his title, continuing what he calls “an amazing journey” with his fans.
Bodybuilding legend Lee Haney advised Dauda to focus on refining his physique—maturing muscle and improving definition—rather than simply adding size. Coach and former mentor Milos Sarcev agreed, adding that Dauda still hasn’t “maxed out” and continues to grow stronger.
While Dauda is focused on defending his 2025 Olympia title, he’s also thinking long-term, already setting his sights on returning even more polished for the 2026 Olympia.
Currently in the midst of his prep for this year’s contest, he’s working to strike the right balance between mass and conditioning. His offseason and prep approach reflects a clear strategy: build mass, cut down, and refine for peak stage performance.
Dauda sticks to a disciplined training and nutrition regimen, centered on lean, nutrient-dense foods like eggs, chicken, steak, ground beef, oatmeal, sweet potatoes, and pasta. He also incorporates supplements such as whey protein and pre-workouts to support his efforts.
Dauda stresses the importance of mental focus and maintaining the hunger to keep chasing more titles.
Though currently taking a brief rest, he remains fully dedicated to defending his Mr. Olympia crown this October. The shift in strategy—from adding sheer mass to refining detail and definition—will be key to his success. Looking ahead, Dauda is already preparing for even greater goals in 2026.
