On June 26 1943 at 01.30 a.m. a British Bomber of the 218 "Gold Coast" squadron of the RAF, on his way to Gelsenkirchen in Germany, was shot down above Brummen in The Netherlands. All crew members left their aircraft and landed in Brummen. The Short Stirling MK III crashed into the ground in a field in Empe (Brummen). One of the crewmembers, Navigator Robert (Bob) Baker landed in a village garden in Brummen. This is his story.
