Ancient migrations created the linguistic foundation of Europe and large parts of Asia. It was the movement of people — not borders or states - that determined how Indo-European languages spread and why hundreds of modern societies speak languages with shared roots. But where did this process begin: among early farming communities of Anatolia or among horse-riding nomads of the Pontic and Ukrainian steppes? This question has divided scholars for decades.
In this video, we trace how the history of language connected continents through migration, warfare, horse domestication, and Bronze Age technologies. Archaeological cultures, genetic evidence, and linguistic reconstruction reveal who truly shaped linguistic Europe and along which routes this transformation unfolded. These processes did not only define the linguistic map of the past - they continue to shape the cultural reality of the modern world, where echoes of ancient migrations still survive in the words we use today.
