While others closed their doors in 2020, Light of Life Rescue Mission made the promise to not only stay open, but also broaden their care for the homeless, addicted and abused throughout the Pittsburgh area. In that time, their relationships and community partners found new ways to ensure the safety of the region’s most vulnerable and neglected.

As the pandemic took its toll on the city, it only amplified issues that were already affecting our community. An opioid epidemic was already raging, killing thousands each year. Women and children became the fastest growing homeless population in Allegheny County and generational poverty was at its tipping point. Hungry children who received their one meal-a-day were living in unstable environments. Now, as we sit on the expired eviction moratorium leaving thousands at risk - all at once.

But there is hope, experience the stories of redemption and the people and organizations waging war against drug abuse and addiction, helping provide shelter and food for the underserved and banding together to bring healing and restoration to this city.
